Plasser & Theurer is a private Austrian company, founded in 1953, specialising in the development and production of equipment for the maintenance and construction of railway track. Group headquarters are located in the Austrian cities of Vienna and Linz, while associated companies are established in 15 countries employing over 3,000 people worldwide. To date, the group has supplied more than 12,000 machines to over 100 different countries.

Plasser Australia was established and commenced manufacture of track maintenance and construction machinery in Australia in 1970. In 1980, the company moved to its present location at St Marys on 2.5 hectares of land, with rail siding access to the New South Wales standard gauge rail system.
